Running on Kindness 5K for Autism Awareness
The Running on Kindness 5K for Autism Awareness is a community event held in Vineland, New Jersey. Now in its second year, the event is hosted at Pilla Middle School with the cooperation of all district schools and the local community. The gathering aims to spread awareness and promote acceptance regarding autism.
The event offers several participation options:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Walk
- 5K - Vineland Public School Student
The entire course is located on the grounds of Pilla Middle School. Participants will navigate a variety of surfaces, including mostly paved areas as well as grassy and dirt sections in the field behind the school building. The route is compatible with jogging strollers that can manage this mixed terrain. The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine, and packet pick-up is available on the morning of the race.
Proceeds from the event support several local initiatives, including Pilla Project Unity, a club focused on social interaction among students of all abilities. Funds also benefit Educators 4 Autism, a local nonprofit, and Project Lifesaver, which provides tracking devices for local children. Recognition is awarded in the 5K category to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three student finishers under 18 years of age.
