Sleighbells on the Square
The Sleighbells on the Square event returns to Marietta, Georgia, for its 25th anniversary. Organized by the Cobb County Bar Association, the event takes place on the Marietta Square, serving as the start and finish location for all races. Participants are encouraged to wear festive holiday attire, and the event welcomes both strollers and dogs.
The race lineup includes several distances:
- 5K (Timed)
- 1K
- 50 Yards (Tot Trot)
- 5K Virtual
The 5K course is USATF Certified and is an AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifier. It uses electronic chip timing to record participant results. The Tot Trot is a 50-yard dash specifically open to children ages 6 and under. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual 5K option allows runners to complete the distance at a location of their choice, although t-shirts for this category must be picked up in person.
Registration includes a long-sleeve t-shirt for all participants. Awards are presented for the 5K race to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as top finishers in masters and traditional age categories ranging from 10 and under to 75 and older. The event also features a school competition with monetary prizes for the institutions with the most participants. Proceeds from the races benefit the Children’s Emergency Fund, which provides financial assistance to households in Cobb County. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
