Running of the Elk
The Running of the Elk is an annual athletic event held in Elk Grove, California. The race starts and finishes at District 56, located on Civic Center Drive. This event serves as a fundraiser to support the Elk Grove Youth Sports Foundation. Participants can choose between several distances designed for various age groups and preferences.
The available distances include:
- 10K (6.2 miles) for adults and youth
- 5K (3.1 miles) for adults and youth
- 0.5 Miles Kids Fun Run for ages 12 and under
The 5K and 10K courses are open to both runners and walkers. Participants in these timed events receive a bib number, a microfiber t-shirt, a goody bag, and a finisher's medal. Electronic race timing is provided for these distances.
The Kids Fun Run consists of noncompetitive 1/2 mile and 1/4 mile distances. These runs are specifically for children aged 12 and younger and are neither timed nor scored. Participants in the youth fun runs receive a cotton t-shirt, a goody bag, and a finisher's medal upon completion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
