About the race
Runner In Red 5K Run/Walk is a USATF certified 5K held at Eisenhower Park Field #2 in East Meadow. The event supports efforts to cure lung cancer and benefits Barb’s Beer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity. The race is associated with the novel "Runner in Red," which explores the history of women’s running and contributes proceeds toward lung cancer research. A free kids fun run is offered alongside the 5K. Race services include in-person bib pickup handled by event staff and virtual bibs that are shipped to participants.
The shipping window for virtual bibs ranges from one week before the event to one week after the event. Registrations may offer personalized race numbers when completed about three weeks before the event. Awards recognize overall top finishers and age group performance. Trophies are presented to the top female and top male overall, and medals go to the top three in each male and female age group across standard categories.
