Runner In Red 5K Run/Walk
The Runner In Red 5K is a community run and walk held in March at Eisenhower Park Field #2 in East Meadow. The event supports a cure for lung cancer and benefits the Barb's Beer Foundation, a registered 501c3 charity.
The event takes its name from the novel "Runner in Red." A free beer is provided to participants age 21 and over as part of event fundraising activities. A separate kids fun run is also offered.
The course is a USATF certified 5K (certificate ID NY17013JG). Race-day bib pickup is available in person, with a self-lookup area for those who do not know their bib number. Virtual entries receive bibs by mail; shipping occurs in a window that spans roughly one week before to one week after the event.
Awards include trophies for top overall female and top overall male, top three medals in each age group (10 and under; 11 to 14; 15 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 to 69; 70 to 79; 80 plus), and a largest team trophy. Live online, email and text results are provided, along with free video and same day finish line photos.
