The Runner in Red 5K Run/Walk takes place on March 21, 2026, at Eisenhower Park Field 2 in East Meadow, New York. The event is held rain or shine and includes a 5K run/walk and a free kids fun run. The course is USATF certified.
Registration and logistics
Registration options include in-person and virtual 5K entries. Fees shown include a processing charge; example totals listed are $33.80 for early virtual or in-person registration and $38.98 for race-day in-person registration. In-person registrants who register at least three weeks before the event receive a personalized bib; t-shirts are included but not guaranteed after March 9. In-person bib pickup is available beginning one hour before the event. Virtual participants can submit times and photos during the window from March 21 to March 29; virtual bibs are shipped.
Cause and awards
The event benefits the Runner in Red / Barb’s Beer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity that raises funds to support lung cancer research in memory of Barb Murphy. All runners aged 21 and over receive a complimentary Barb’s Beer. Awards include top male and female overall trophies, top 3 male and female in age groups (10 & under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80+), and a Largest Team trophy.
