Tewinbury Trail 5K & 10K
The event is a pair of trail races hosted at Tewinbury, a countryside hotel and event venue in Tewin, Hertfordshire, just north of Welwyn. The races use trails around the hotel grounds and surrounding countryside with an event base on the Tewinbury event field.
Distances
- 5K (100 m elevation)
- 10K (180 m elevation)
Both routes are entirely on trails and are described as undulating with a mix of single track forest paths and open tracks. Underfoot surfaces include dirt, grass and woodland trails; the route is generally dry but uneven in places so trail running shoes are recommended. Navigation is simple and is aided by orange signage, marshals and a downloadable GPX file. A runner's guide PDF is available with key race information.
Support and facilities include a water and nutrition stop at approximately 5.3 km for the 10K, cup provision, chip timing with live results, medical support, marked and marshalled routes, onsite car parking, bag drop, fixed toilet facilities and on route photos. All finishers receive a souvenir medal and there are awards for top three male and female finishers plus multiple age categories. The event is permitted by the TRA and held under UKA rules. Maximum entry is 400 and dogs are not permitted on course.
A withdrawal policy offers credits where entries cancelled more than four weeks before the race receive 90 percent credit valid for 12 months. Minimum ages are 12 for the 5K and 16 for the 10K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
