Run 4 Sam
Run 4 Sam is a community running and walking event held at Grings Mill Park in Reading, Pennsylvania. The event includes a four mile race, a two mile walk, and a kids fun run for ages 12 and under that takes place after the main race. The course starts at Gring's Mill and follows the Union Canal towpath along Tulpehocken Creek.
Entry fees and deadlines are published by the organizers. Posted rates include runner fees of $25 if postmarked by August 3, 2026 and $30 if postmarked after that date; walker fees of $14 if postmarked by August 3, 2026 and $18 if postmarked after; and a kids fun run fee of $5. Online registration is available with a nominal fee and a separate online deadline.
Runners and walkers receive a T-shirt while supplies last or may opt out so funds go to the park. Kids fun run participants do not receive T-shirts or awards. Winners include top overall male and female plus the top three males and females in each age group. Medals are awarded in age categories including 18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Proceeds support operation and maintenance of the Union Canal towpath, projects in Grings Mill Park, an annual scholarship, and donations to local charities. Race results are posted by the timing provider after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
