Event overview
Run with the Burros is a pack burro race and trail run held in Inyokern, CA at Highway 14 and Indian Wells Canyon Road. The event is a fundraising run with proceeds supporting California Breakfast Burritos and Forever Home Donkey Rescue & Sanctuary. Organizers describe it as a fundraising event run by volunteer organizations; all proceeds go to charitable, 100% volunteer groups. Pending Bureau of Land Management approval, race dates for 2026-2030 are planned for the second Saturday of April. Organizers provide maps, pack burro rules, and lodging information.
Distances and race format
There are four distances and both burro/runner teams and runners without burros may compete in separate categories on the same course. Distances are approximate because of terrain. There is a slightly staggered start with burros starting first.
- 26.2 miles - trail marathon distance
- 18 miles - long trail distance
- 10 miles - mid-distance trail run
- 5 miles - introductory distance
