Event Overview
The Run Whitstable & Herne Bay Spring is a running event offering three distances along the Kent coast: a 5k, a 10k, and a Half Marathon. The event takes place at Hampton Pier Recreation Ground in Herne Bay.
Course Details
The course is described as a flat and fast run along the waterfront. The route uses paths, and road running shoes are recommended. The layout is an out-and-back course. The 5k turns back at the 2.5 km point, and the 10k turns back at the 5 km point. The Half Marathon begins with a 1.1 km out-and-back section before completing the 10k section twice. The course is wheelchair and buggy-friendly. Please note the course may be altered up to the event day if necessary.
Event Day Information
On the event day, registration opens at 8:00 AM. The Half Marathon starts at 9:00 AM, while the 5k and 10k races start at 10:00 AM. Race packs, including a chip-timing bib, are collected at registration. Race numbers are allocated in advance and can be viewed online via a participant profile. Water is available at the start/finish and at the 5 km point. Marshals are positioned around the course.
Participant Information
All finishers receive a medal. Trophies are awarded to the overall winners of each distance. Sweets and water are provided at the finish line. Chip timing is used, with instant results available at the event and online. Participants can walk, and there are cut-off times: 2 hours for the 5k/10k and 3 hours for the Half Marathon. Children are allowed to participate, with those running unaccompanied requiring a guardian to remain onsite. Running with dogs on a short lead is permitted. Headphones are allowed, provided runners can still hear announcements and marshals.
