Event overview

The Canterbury 10 Mile is a road race held over 10 miles with its next edition scheduled for 25 January 2026. The 2026 event uses a new course to the north of Canterbury and a new race headquarters at the University of Kent Sports Centre. The course is undulating, largely traffic free, and is not suitable for wheelchair competitors. Only bone-conducting headphones are permitted; conventional earphones are not allowed.

Logistics and facilities

Race registration and number/chip collection take place at the University of Kent Sports Centre main sports hall. Disposable timing chips are attached to race numbers and numbers are distributed in alphabetical order; ID is required for collection. There is a baggage area in Small Hall 2 with bag drop tags attached to race numbers; large hold-alls are discouraged and items are left at the owner’s risk. Parking is available nearby in Giles Lane, Library Road (CT2 7NB) and Keynes (CT2 7NP) car parks.

The course starts and finishes close to the sports centre and initially includes a one-mile loop around the university, followed by a larger loop towards Whitstable via the villages of Tyler Hill and Radfall, then returns along the Crab and Winkle Way. There are two water stations on course at approximately 3.5 miles and 7.8 miles. Medical cover, toilets, refreshments, prize presentation, and finisher medals are provided. Prizes include cash and trophies for top finishers, age-group awards, and team prizes. Photographs are available after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
