Run Whitstable & Herne Bay September

The Run Whitstable & Herne Bay event takes place along the Kent Coast, offering a flat and fast route on the waterfront. The course primarily consists of paved paths, making road running shoes the recommended footwear for participants.

The event features three distinct distances:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half marathon

The 5 km route involves a point-to-point run that turns back at the 2.5 km mark. The 10 km follows a similar format, turning back at the 5 km point. For the half marathon, participants complete an initial 1.1 km out-and-back section toward Hampton and Herne Bay before returning to complete the 10 km loop twice.

The event hub is located at the Hampton Pier Recreation Ground. The course is inclusive, as it is noted to be wheelchair friendly and open to those running with buggies. Dogs are also permitted to join their owners provided they are kept on a short lead or harness.

Participants receive full race chip timing with results available instantly. Water stations are positioned at the start, finish, and along the running route. Finishers are presented with a medal, and trophies are awarded to the overall winners in each distance category.

The venue is accessible by car, though on-site parking at Hampton Pier Avenue is limited. Local rail services are also an option, with the Herne Bay railway station located approximately 10-15 minutes away from the event hub on foot. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
