Run Up for Heroes 5K
The Run Up for Heroes takes place in Jacksonville, Florida, starting at the USS Orleck on East Bay Street. Organized by the nonprofit Helping Hands for Heroes (HHH), the event supports initiatives aimed at reducing homelessness among United States Veterans. Proceeds contribute to programs providing transitional housing, mental health services, workforce training, and reintegration support, specifically helping fund the development of transitional housing units in Northeast Florida.
The event offers several participation options for different interests and age groups:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 5K Youth Registration (13 and Under)
- 10K (6.2 Miles)
- Virtual 5K
- Virtual 10K
Participants in the physical races gather at the USS Orleck location, where free parking is available for attendees. The venue also hosts a Fall Festival that continues throughout the morning. The 5K course is open to both runners and walkers, allowing individuals to complete the distance at their own pace within a community setting. Virtual registration options are available for those who wish to complete the distance at a separate location while still supporting the mission of providing housing and suicide prevention services for Veterans.
