Run, Turkey, Run! 5K/1 Mile
Run, Turkey, Run! is a Thanksgiving morning running event held at the Goodyear Recreation Campus in Goodyear, Arizona. The event offers the following distances:
- 1 Mile Turkey Trot
- 5K Turkey Trot
Registration includes options with or without a race shirt. Fees listed by the organizer show the 1 Mile at $15 without a shirt and $20 with a shirt, and the 5K at $20 without a shirt and $25 with a shirt. Race shirts are guaranteed for preregistered participants, with a T-shirt guarantee noted for registrations completed before 11/21. 5K finishers receive a finisher medal; 1 Mile finishers receive finisher medals as well. Post-race refreshments and on-site music are provided.
The event partners with the Millennium High School Key Club; registrations using the club code or direct donations result in a contribution to the Key Club, and Key Club volunteers will help at the event. The organizers are also collecting new items for Saint Vince de Paul to assist local families; all donated items must be new. Acceptable items include baby food, canned food, diapers, socks and underwear, pet food or toys, hygiene products, clothing, and blankets. Participants who wish to take part are asked to bring at least one new item to packet pickup or on race day.
Race timing uses disposable RFID chips on the reverse side of the race number, with live results available at an on-site kiosk. Parking is available along Harrison Street. Awards are planned for overall and youth placings in the 5K and overall placings in the 1 Mile. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
