Event Overview
Run, Turkey, Run! is a community running event held on Thanksgiving morning at the Goodyear Recreation Campus in Goodyear, Arizona. The event features two distinct distances for participants to choose from:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 1 Mile
The race utilizes disposable chip technology for timing, with results displayed on-site. Participants in the 5K distance who complete the course receive a finisher medal. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three youth finishers aged 17 and under. Those participating in the 1 Mile walk or run also receive finisher medals, with awards designated for the top three male and female finishers.
Race Day Experience
The event is held at the Goodyear Recreation Campus and includes post-race refreshments and music. Families can participate in various games for the chance to win prizes while supplies last. Registration options are available both with and without a race shirt. For those selecting the shirt option, availability is guaranteed for participants who register before November 21. While the event is open to families, pets are not permitted on the course.
Community Donation Drive
The event partners with local organizations to support the Children's Cancer Network. Participants are required to bring a new item for donation to either the packet pickup or on the day of the race. Accepted items include baby food, canned food, diapers, socks, underwear, pet supplies, hygiene products, and new clothing or blankets.
Logistics
Packet pickup is scheduled for the Monday and Tuesday preceding the event, with additional pickup and late registration available on the morning of the race.
