Run to the Rising Sun : event details
Run to the Rising Sun is a 10 km trail race on 14 December 2025 organised by Greener Miles Running at Rising Sun Country Park in North Tyneside. Entry has a minimum age of 15 and fees are listed as £22 for UKA members and £24 for non-members. Entries open 28 February 2025 and close 9 December 2025. The event includes a race day memento and prizes for the top three male and female finishers and top veteran category finishers.
The course is traffic-free, well marked and marshalled on good trails. It uses well-maintained paths and tracks with grassy sections and woodland, and includes one main summit followed mainly by downhill to the finish. Medical support is provided on the course. Food and drink will be available from the cafe, and free water, chia charge and mountain fuel gels are listed as available.
Venue and logistics
Race headquarters, registration and toilets are at the cafe building, The Rising Sun Countryside Centre, Whitley Road, Benton, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE12 9SS (Grid Ref NZ 30228 69575). There is no parking available at the Race HQ. Public parking is available at ASDA Benton supermarket on Whitley Road, approximately 0.5 mile from Race HQ with access via road or park footpath. Terrain conditions can include hard packed gravel tracks, grassy paths and woodland paths. The organiser states eco-friendly measures such as not using disposable plastic cups, providing seed-based mementos and including a packet of mixed wild flower seeds with entries.
