Event overview
Run to the Rising Sun is a 10 km trail race at Rising Sun Country Park, North Tyneside, on 14/12/2025. The route is traffic-free, well-marked and marshalled, with no navigation required. Terrain includes hard-packed gravel tracks, grassy paths and woodland paths, and the course features one main summit (Rising Sun Hill) with a mainly downhill finish. The organiser describes the event as eco-friendly; disposable plastic cups are not used and a race day memento is included. Event minimum age is 15.
Logistics and facilities
Race HQ, registration and toilets are based at the cafe building, The Rising Sun Countryside Centre, Whitley Road, Benton, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE12 9SS (Grid Ref: NZ 30228 69575). There is no parking at Race HQ; parking is available at ASDA Benton supermarket about 0.5 mile away, with access via road or park footpaths. The cafe will be open and hot drinks will be available to purchase. Free water, snacks and fruit are provided at the finish line. Medical support will be on the course. Weather in December can fall below freezing; the organiser suggests bringing warm post-race clothing. Entry fees listed are £22 (UKA member) and £24 (non-member); entries open 28/02/2025 and close 09/12/2025. Participants are encouraged to car share.
