Event overview
Run to Empower is a Run Ottawa event on Saturday, May 2, 2026, dedicated to supporting and advancing women’s running in Canada. The event includes a women’s-only performance race, an open 5K that welcomes all genders and includes a stroller wave, and the Little Warriors Kids 1K for athletes 12 years and under. The Canadian Breast Cancer Network is the event charity partner.

Distances:

- 1 km (Little Warriors Kids 1K)
Registration includes a commemorative finisher medal unless the Green Bib option is chosen, a personalized race bib, professional chip timing with results, and free downloadable race photos. Optional add-ons include a Run to Empower shirt and an iTab ribbon hanger. Online fees listed are: 5K $78.74 + HST, 5K youth $28.13 + HST, Little Warriors 1K $16.88 + HST. Online registration closes Monday, April 27, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
The women’s performance race (Ottawa’s Fastest Women) is open to persons who identify as female aged 12 and older and requires a qualifying time under 20:00 for the 5K (or an equivalent result since January 1, 2024). Prize money is offered for the top seven finishers and masters categories, with additional bonuses for breaking the event record or the national 5K road race record. Some faster qualifiers receive reduced or waived entry fees.
Logistics and other information
Location and route are listed as TBA. Free and paid parking areas are identified near the National Capital Commission Scenic Driveway and the Agricultural Museum; participants are asked not to park in undesignated areas. Race kit pick up details are TBA. Run Ottawa membership can be purchased during registration and includes a 10% discount on Run Ottawa races.
