Event overview
Run to Empower is an event that supports and promotes women’s running in Canada. The program includes a women’s-only performance race, an open 5K that includes a stroller wave, and the Little Warriors Kids 1K for athletes 12 years and under. Entry, standards and prizes
Registration includes a commemorative finisher medal unless the Green Bib option is chosen, a personalized race bib, professional race timing, and free downloadable race photos. Optional add-ons include a race shirt and an iTab ribbon hanger. Online fees listed are: 5K $78.74 + HST, 5K youth $28.13 + HST, Little Warriors 1K $16.88 + HST.
The women’s performance race is open to persons who identify as female aged 12 and older and requires a 5K time under 20:00 (or an accepted equivalent) since January 1, 2024; entrants will be asked to upload a qualifying time. Runners with 5K times of 18:30 or faster receive free entry; times from 18:30 to 20:00 require a $20 entry fee. Prizing is provided for the top seven overall and separate Masters (40+) awards; the U19 winner receives a smartwatch. Bonuses are offered for breaking the event record ($500) and the Canadian 5K road record ($2,000).
Logistics and deadlines
Free parking is available off the National Capital Commission Scenic Driveway east of Morningside Lane; paid parking is available at the Agricultural Museum lot and visitor parking off Maple Drive and Birch Drive. Participants are asked not to park in undesignated areas, including Morningside Lane. Online registration closes Monday, April 27, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
