Run the River (HomeStretch)
Run the River is an annual fundraising road race organized by HomeStretch. The event began in 2001 and supports HomeStretch’s work to help families exit homelessness by providing safe housing, workforce development, financial coaching, and life-skills training.
The course runs along the Chattahoochee River and is described as a flat, runner-friendly route. The race course is USATF-certified and serves as an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race qualifier. The event includes options for different participants and a youth race.
- 5K road race
- 10K road race
- Kids Fun Run for ages 12 and under
HomeStretch paused the event for 2026 because of significant construction and related road closures that created safety and logistics concerns. Run the River is scheduled to return on March 27, 2027. Planning for 2027 emphasizes preserving the Peachtree-qualifying character of the course, improving race-day amenities and the post-race experience, and expanding opportunities for runners, sponsors, and volunteers.
Sponsorship opportunities are offered at multiple levels, including Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Title Sponsorship, each with specific recognition and benefits for sponsors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
