Run the River - HomeStretch
Run the River is an annual road race organized by HomeStretch in Roswell, Georgia. The event began in 2001 and takes place along the Chattahoochee River. It uses a USATF certified course and serves as an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 10K - USATF certified Peachtree Road Race qualifier along the Chattahoochee River.
- 5K - Flat course along the river; option for walkers and active strollers.
- Kids Fun Run - Short youth race for ages 12 and under.
The course is described as flat and runner friendly, and the event has been chosen by competitive runners seeking a fast course. The 5K route also accommodates walkers and strollers. A youth fun run provides a shorter option for children.
HomeStretch paused the race for 2026 because of nearby construction, road closures, and related safety and logistics concerns. The event is scheduled to return on March 27, 2027, with planning focused on preserving the Peachtree-qualifying character of the course and improving race-day amenities, hospitality, and the post-race experience.
Proceeds from Run the River support HomeStretch’s programs to help families exiting homelessness, including housing assistance, workforce development, financial coaching, and life-skills training. Sponsorship packages and volunteer roles are part of the event structure and include on-course and race-day recognition opportunities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
