Run the River - HomeStretch
Run the River is an annual community race organized by HomeStretch in Roswell, Georgia. The event features USATF certified courses along the Chattahoochee River and serves as an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race qualifier. The race is known for a flat, runner-friendly route that has been used for both 5K and 10K distances and a youth fun run for children 12 and under.
HomeStretch paused the event for 2026 due to significant construction activity and related road closures that affected safety, traffic control, and race operations. The decision followed a review with city and public safety partners which found that available alternatives would compromise safety, course quality, or mission impact. Run the River is scheduled to return on March 27, 2027.
Proceeds from the event support HomeStretch programs that help families experiencing homelessness. Funded services include safe housing, workforce development, financial coaching, and life skills training for families working toward stability and permanent housing.
