Event Information
The Reindeer Run for the Children is a holiday-themed running event organized by the Service League of Cherokee County. It takes place at Etowah River Park in Canton, Georgia. The event features three distance options: a 5K, a 10K, and a 1-mile Fun Run.
Course and Awards
The course is described as fast and flat. The event is a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race. Awards are given for overall top male and female finishers, top male and female masters, and the top three males and females in standard 5-year age groups for both the 5K and 10K. All Fun Run finishers receive a commemorative ribbon. A $1,000 cash prize is awarded to the school with the most participants.
Registration and Fees
Registration is primarily online, with walk-up registration available at package pickup or on race morning. The race-day registration opens at 7:00 a.m. Pre-race package pickup is available on the Friday before the event at Fleet Feet in Canton. The registration fee for the 10K is $35, increasing to $40 after October 31st. Participants can also register as "Santa's Helpers" for a t-shirt-only option to support the cause.
Post-Race Activities and Support
After the race, there are complimentary refreshments, holiday caroling by local school groups, and a special visit from Santa Claus. All proceeds from the event support the Children of Cherokee County. Pre-registered runners and Santa's Helpers receive a commemorative long-sleeve shirt, though shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after October 31st.
