12th Annual Race To Stop Hunger 5K : Event overview
The Race To Stop Hunger 5K is organized by Kids Against Hunger Illinois and takes place in Bloomingdale, Illinois at Mallard Lake Forest Preserve on August 8, 2026. The event supports Kids Against Hunger Illinois; 100% of race proceeds for 2026 will fund meals for children both locally and globally.
The event offers several participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
- Kids 1/3 mile dash
- Virtual 5K run/walk
- Fundraising only registration
Course and facilities: the certified 5K course follows scenic, wide paths through the Mallard Lake Forest Preserve on limestone and some asphalt. Flush toilet bathrooms are available at the preserve. Packet pickup is available prior to race day at the Kids Against Hunger Illinois facility on 200 N. Garden Ave, Roselle, and on race day at the pavilion at Mallard Lake Forest Preserve.
Awards and team competition: cash prizes are awarded to the top two overall male and female finishers with first and second place prizes listed. Age group medals are awarded for male and female finishers in five year age categories from 9 and under through 80 and over. A team event is offered for groups of three or more; team awards recognize best averaged time, largest group, and highest fundraising. Swag for 5K finishers includes a race bib, a race shirt, and a gift bag; virtual participants receive their race bib by email. Kids Dash finishers receive a race bib and a gift bag with a ribbon.
