Race To Stop Hunger 5k : 12th Annual
The Race To Stop Hunger 5k is the 12th annual fundraiser organized by Kids Against Hunger-Illinois. It takes place on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Mallard Lake Forest Preserve in Bloomingdale, Illinois. The organizer states that 100 percent of race proceeds for 2026 will feed children locally and globally, and past editions have helped provide hundreds of thousands of meals.
Event formats include a kids dash, an in-person 5K run and walk, a virtual 5K, and a fundraising-only option. The in-person 5K follows a certified course on limestone and asphalt through wide paths around Mallard Lake; facilities include flush-toilet bathrooms.
Awards and team competition are part of the event. Cash prizes are listed for the top two overall male and female finishers, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places receive medals in five-year age groups from 9 and under through 80 and over. Team medals are awarded for best averaged time, largest group, and highest fundraising. The organizer also notes scholarship consideration for a top high school athlete.
Packet pickup is offered before race day at the Kids Against Hunger-Illinois facility in Roselle and on race day at the Mallard Lake Pavilion. Swag for in-person 5K finishers includes a race bib, race shirt, and gift bag; kids dash finishers receive a bib, gift bag, and ribbon.
