The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire's Run the Rail Trail 4-Miler
This event is a 4-mile run/walk that starts and finishes at the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire in Londonderry (27 Navigator Rd). The course is entirely on paved roads and follows a winding route through North Londonderry, including a recently opened 1.2-mile section of the Londonderry Rail Trail that passes near the Little Cohas Brook Reservoir. The route includes two water stops and features a significant elevation rise in the first mile followed by an equally steep descent soon after; pets are not allowed and strollers are discouraged.
The event is a fundraiser for the museum's youth education programs, including a summer camp and a high school plane-building project at the Manchester School of Technology. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and in additional categories such as longest time to finish. Timing services and traffic control are provided by third-party timing and local public safety departments. Early packet pick-up for pre-registered participants takes place at the museum classroom the day before the event.
