The STEP UP FOR COLLEEN 5K Walk/Run takes place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Andover, MA. The in-person event is held at Central Park on Bartlet Street. A virtual 5K option is also offered. The standard entry fee is $30 for both the in-person and virtual options. The in-person price increases after March 15, 2026, and the virtual price increases after March 14, 2026. Title sponsors for 2026 include Axcelis Technologies, Eastern Bank and a local McDonalds.
Purpose and beneficiaries
The event was created by friends and family of Colleen Ritzer to honor her life and commitment to helping others. Net proceeds benefit the Colleen E. Ritzer Memorial Fund, Inc. That fund supports charitable activities that honor Colleen’s legacy, including the Colleen E. Ritzer Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship supports graduating high school seniors who live in Andover or Danvers, who plan to pursue a degree in education and who demonstrate a passion for teaching, academic achievement and love of family.
