Event Overview
Run The Forest is a trail running and walking event held in Rotorua, New Zealand. The event takes place during the winter season and utilizes the region's diverse natural landscapes. Participants pass through geothermal areas featuring geysers, steam vents, bubbling mud pools, and hot springs, as well as the towering trees of the Redwood forest.
Course Options
Participants can choose from three distinct distances that cater to runners and walkers:
- 21 km Pohutu Geyser Trail: The longest course begins at the foot of the Pohutu Geyser.
- 10 km Geothermal Traverse: This route passes through the Whakarewarewa Living Māori Village.
- 7 km Redwoods Trail: A shorter distance that focuses on the redwood trees and sulphur flats.
The courses consist of a mix of geothermal landscapes and forest trails. The 7 km and 10 km options specifically traverse manuka-lined paths and steam-filled environments before entering the forest sections.
Atmosphere and Amenities
The event includes on-course entertainment and music throughout the routes. A finish line festival is established to provide live music, food, and beverages for participants.
