Run Sunset Beach
Run Sunset Beach is a multi-distance road race held in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Distances offered on race weekend include:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- 5K
- 1 Mile
The Half Marathon, 10K and 5K are USATF certified courses that travel across the intracoastal waterway bridge and around the island and mainland, with start and finish at the waterfront park. The 1 Mile is an untimed three loop course inside the park and awards a finisher medal.
Logistics and support include a local packet pickup the day before the race at the Sea Trail Convention Center, secured parking with a shuttle from a large lot near Ingram Planetarium, and multiple on-course amenities. The half marathon has eight water stops and the 5K has one; a support truck and more than 100 volunteers assist the course. Over 20 portolets are available at the start finish area and additional toilets are placed along the route.
Post-race offerings include food, music and awards for top overall and age group finishers in designated events; awards must be collected at the event and are not shipped. A virtual option is available; virtual participants receive mailed swag within two weeks of the event when registered as virtual.
