Run Sunset Beach : overview
Run Sunset Beach takes place on April 11, 2026 in Sunset Beach, North Carolina (206 Sunset Blvd N, Sunset Beach, NC 28468). The event offers multiple distances and virtual options:

Entry fees listed on the event page are $115 for the half marathon, $60 for the 10K, $50 for the 5K and $30 for the 1 Mile. Finisher medals are provided for all distances; shirts are included for all races except the 1 Mile, where a shirt is an optional $10 add-on. Run Sunset Beach is part of the BAM (Big Ass Medal) race series.
Course, logistics and race support
The half marathon and 10K cross the intracoastal waterway bridge and include running on the island and mainland; the half marathon notes a 65' bridge elevation. The 1 Mile uses a three-loop course in the waterfront park and is not certified or timed. The half, 10K and 5K courses are USATF certified (certificates cited for each course).
Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled for April 10 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm at a location near Sunset Beach. Parking includes multiple nearby lots and a shuttle from a large parking lot near Ingram Planetarium (7625 High Market St). Course support includes aid stations (8 for the half, 1 for the 5K), a SAG vehicle, over 20 portajohns at the start/finish and 5 along the course, on-course signage and more than 100 volunteers. Awards are given for overall, masters and five-year age groups for the half and 5K. Dogs, bicycles and scooters are not allowed on course. Virtual participants receive shipped swag within two weeks; transfers to virtual are allowed up to 7 days before the event for a processing fee. Refunds are not offered.
