Run Ridge Run
Run Ridge Run is a trail running event in Port Moody that follows ridge trails around Sasamat Lake and near Buntzen Lake. The event offers two main distances and a separate non timed kids race.
The main distances are:
- 13 KM skirts Sasamat Lake on the Buntzen Ridge Trail and gives glimpses of Buntzen Lake.
- 25 KM follows the 13 KM start then continues onto the Diez Vistas Ridge, the Lakeview Trail, grazes Buntzen Lake and returns over the ridge to finish at Sasamat Lake.
Both courses include sustained climbs, descents and technical trail sections. Each distance has one water station and one aid station; the water station is about six kilometres into both races where the courses split. The 13 KM aid station is at approximately kilometer 8.5 and the 25 KM aid station is at approximately kilometer 18. The long course has a single cutoff at the aid station near kilometer 18 set at four and a half hours.
A short kids race of about 1 km is offered, non competitive, not timed, and primarily for ages three to ten. Registration for the kids race is free and donations to a local support network are accepted.
Logistics notes include a bag tent at the start and a cup free policy so participants must bring their own drinking vessel. Trekking poles are not allowed. GPX files and course maps are provided by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
