Run Recover Rise 5K
The inaugural Run Recover Rise 5K takes place in Spruce Creek Park on Glenthorne Loop. The event follows an out-and-back course that begins at the park entrance. Participants navigate a paved path that leads toward Rockfish Valley Highway. The route is situated at the base of the mountains, passing through forested areas and open fields within Nelson County.
The event features a single distance:
- 5K
The course is open to various participants, including experienced runners and those walking to support the community. Revenue from the event supports community development and resources through the Nelson County Recovery Court and the Nelson County Sheriff's Office. Community partners involved in the organization include the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney and the Victim Witness Program.
All participants who register for the race receive a t-shirt. While preferred sizes are guaranteed for those who register by early April, registrations made after that date are subject to available inventory. Additional shirts are available for purchase on site during the event.
Awards are presented to the first-place winners across several categories. These age groups include participants 15 and under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-40, and over 40. For some categories, separate awards are designated for male and female runners. Registration is available online with a discounted rate for students, while day-of registration is restricted to payment by check. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
