Run Oak Island : February 13–14, 2027
Run Oak Island is a two-day road race weekend on Oak Island, North Carolina, held on Presidents Day weekend. The event includes distance races spanning from a 1 mile fun run up to an ultra distance, and it is the 13th annual running of the event. A virtual participation option is available.
Distances and event options include:
- 26.25 miles Ultra Marathon (full marathon plus 0.05 miles)
- 26.2 miles Full Marathon (certified)
- 13.1 miles East Half Marathon (certified; competitive with age group and overall awards)
- 13.1 miles West Half Marathon (certified; walker-friendly with a 6.5 hour time limit)
- 10K (certified)
- 5K (certified)
- 1 Mile (fun run, not timed or certified; shirt optional add-on)
Course highlights include oceanfront sections, marsh views, a country club and arboretum, a lighthouse turnaround on some courses, and an intracoastal bridge that provides about 65 feet of elevation on the West Half. The full marathon route includes 13 water stops; half marathons include seven water stops; the 10K includes two and the 5K one. The event uses certified courses for most distances and offers pacers for some races.
Finishers receive three-dimensional medals and a tri-blend shirt for all races except the 1 mile, where the shirt is optional. Two-day combo options and a Sunday 3-race challenge (totaling about 10.3 miles) are offered. Packet pickup logistics for 2027 are being finalized; the tentative pickup location is St. James Community Center. Local parking is provided near the start with shuttle service from designated lots.
