Event overview
The Carolina Beach State Park Trail Half Marathon & 5K is a trail running event in Carolina Beach, North Carolina on Saturday, January 3, 2026. The race starts and finishes at American Legion Post #129, 1500 Bridge Barrier Road, Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Registration opens August 6, 2025. Participant caps are 300 for the Half Marathon and 300 for the 5K. The event raises funds for Friends of Pleasure Island State Parks.

Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers in each race. Age-group awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in specified age categories for each event.
Course and race details
The courses use single-track trails in Carolina Beach State Park, with sections along the shore, through pine forest, and through a maintained campground. The Half Marathon has a 3 hour and 30 minute cutoff (16 minute per mile pace). All finishers receive a finisher medal. Participants who register by December 2, 2025 and attend packet pickup or the race receive a beanie hat. Participants 21 and older are eligible for one beer at the finish. Snacks and water from Culligan are provided.
Logistics
