Run Northumberland Matfen 10K : 20 September 2026
The event is a road race over 10K held in Matfen, Newcastle upon Tyne NE20 0RA. The course runs on country roads through Matfen Village, loops around the village outskirts and finishes within walking distance of Matfen Hall. The route is described as undulating, is traffic free and is an accurately measured course with distance markers every kilometre.
Chip timing is provided by Timing4Sport. Results and finishing positions are based on gun time in accordance with UK Athletics rules; chip times are provided for personal use. One water station is available at 5 km. Race headquarters, registration and bag drop are at the Village Hall in Matfen, where toilets and changing facilities are also located. Parking is opposite Matfen Hall on the quarry road. First aid and refreshments are provided on the day.
Entries are limited to 300 and close on 14 September 2026. Minimum age to enter is 15. Entry fees are shown as £24 for affiliated runners and £26 for unaffiliated runners. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and an optional event T shirt is available at extra cost. The event follows UK Athletics rules and does not permit in ear headphones, prams or dogs on the course. Prizes include overall and age group awards plus team prizes for UKA affiliated clubs.
