Run Northumberland Matfen 10K : 20 September 2026
The event is a 10 km road race around Matfen village in Newcastle upon Tyne. The course follows country roads, loops around the village outskirts and finishes close to Matfen Hall. The route is accurately measured and described as undulating and traffic free.
Chip timing is provided by Timing4Sport. Distance markers are placed every kilometre and a water station is available at the 5 km point. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and an optional race T shirt is available for an extra cost. The minimum age to enter is 15.
Event headquarters and registration are at Matfen Village Hall, which also provides bag drop, toilets and some changing facilities. Parking is opposite Matfen Hall on the quarry road. First aid and refreshments are provided on the day.
Entry is limited to 300 places. Entry fees are listed as £24 for affiliated runners and £26 for unaffiliated runners. Entries close on 14 September 2026 and places on the day cannot be guaranteed. The race operates under UK Athletics rules; items such as in ear headphones, prams and dogs are not permitted. Individual and team prizes are awarded including trophies and Run Nation prizes for top finishers, plus age group awards where minimum entry numbers are met.
