Run Mahomet
Run Mahomet is a multi-distance running event held in Mahomet, Illinois, celebrating its 30th year. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Mahomet Area Youth Club (MAYC), a non-profit organization providing education and programming for local youth. The races start and finish near the Mahomet-Seymour High School.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- Half Marathon: A 13.1 mile USATF certified course open to participants aged 12 and older.
- 10K: A USATF certified 10 kilometer road race.
- 5K: A USATF certified 5 kilometer course that permits families with strollers.
- Main Street Mile: A one-mile race held on the Friday evening preceding the main events.
- Virtual Options: Remote versions of the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon distances.
The courses are primarily flat and described as fast. In-person races feature chip timing, and awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three in various age categories ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over.
Registered in-person participants receive technical T-shirts, while virtual runners receive finisher medals and shirts by mail. Virtual participants may complete their run during the week prior to the in-person event and submit their times online for final rankings, though they are not eligible for overall or age-group awards.
