Event overview
The Kirby Derby takes place on May 2, 2026, at Forest Reserve Park in Monticello, IL. The event offers two race options:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run/Walk
All proceeds support the development of the Wellness Trail provided by the Kirby Foundation. T-shirt registration has a deadline.
Course and logistics
The course is not a closed road course; volunteers will staff intersections to guide participants and control traffic when possible. Two water stations are on course: one by Nick's Park and one by Monticello Laundry. 10K participants pass the second water stop twice. Bib and shirt pickup are available at the park pavilion on the Friday before the race and on race morning. Same-day registration is handled on a mobile device; there is no cash registration at the park. Registration opens January 1, 2026, and listed entry price is $25 (previously shown as $35). Award ceremonies are scheduled after each race, with the 5K awards presented first and the 10K awards following. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
