Event
The Kirby Derby takes place on May 2, 2026, at Forest Reserve Park in Monticello, Illinois. The event includes the following distances:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run/Walk
All proceeds support the development of the Wellness Trail provided by the Kirby Foundation. Registration opens January 1, 2026. The advertised entry price is $25 (previously listed at $35).
Logistics
Registration will remain open until race morning, but there is no cash registration at the park; same-day registration must be completed on a mobile device. The deadline to switch events is noon the day before the race. Bib and shirt pickup is available on the Friday before the race and on race morning at the park pavilion.
The course is not a closed course; volunteers will be stationed at intersections to guide participants and help manage traffic. Two water stations are on course: one near Nick's Park and one by Monticello Laundry. 10K runners pass the second water stop twice. Award presentations for the 5K occur before the 10K awards.
