Kirby Derby : Monticello, IL

The Kirby Derby takes place on May 2, 2026 at Forest Reserve Park in Monticello, IL 61856. The event offers two measured distances and routes through the local area. All proceeds support the development of the Wellness Trail provided by the Kirby Foundation.

Registration remains open on race morning but no cash registration is available at the park; same day registration is completed on a mobile device. Participants may switch events up until noon the day before the race. Bib and shirt pickup is available the Friday before the event and also on race morning; both pickups occur at the park pavilion.

The course is not a closed course. Volunteers will be positioned at intersections to guide participants and to manage oncoming traffic when necessary. Two water stations are provided along the route: one by Nick's Park and one by Monticello Laundry. Runners in the 10K pass the second water station twice. Awards for the 5K are presented before the awards for the 10K.
