The Run For Your Life 5k Series
The Run For Your Life 5k Series is an interactive themed event held in Fairborn, Ohio. Run Ohio Races LLC organizes this competition, which centers on a zombie apocalypse scenario. Participants choose between two primary roles:
- 5k (Survivor)
- The Zombie Experience
Individuals registered as survivors participate in a 5k run while wearing a flag football belt. The course features designated infected zones where participants registered as zombies attempt to capture the runners' flags. Survivors aim to navigate the route and reach the finish line safe zone with all flags intact. Those who lose one or more flags are considered infected but are still permitted to complete the race.
The individuals participating in the zombie experience do not run the full course. Instead, they remain within the specified infected zones to interact with the runners. While costumes and zombie-themed attire are encouraged for those in this role, their movement is restricted to the marked zones to ensure participant safety. All runners receive a finisher medal regardless of whether they finish with their flags or are deemed infected.
