The Run For Your Life - The Outbreak
The Run For Your Life series arrives in Fairborn with an interactive running event held at Fairborn Community Park. Participants navigate a paved path to deliver a message to a communications team while encountering "infected individuals" along the route. The event features multiple distance options consisting of out-and-back sections that take runners through various designated high-risk zones.
Available distances include:
- 1 Mile: A 0.5-mile out-and-back route featuring 2 infected areas.
- 5 km: A course consisting of three out-and-back sections with 6 infected areas.
- 10 km: A route with six out-and-back sections and 12 infected areas.
- 15 km: The longest option with nine out-and-back sections and 18 infected areas.
Participants may register as either a Survivor or a Zombie. Survivors wear a flag football belt and attempt to navigate the course without losing their flags to the Zombies stationed within the marked zones. If a runner finishes with at least one flag, they are classified as a survivor; those who lose all flags are considered infected. Zombies remain in specific designated areas to attempt to capture flags from passing runners.
The event includes a specialized zombie experience where participants can join as the "undead" to chase survivors through the woods. Makeup artists are available on-site for those participating as zombies. All runners receive a finisher medal regardless of their survival status at the end of the race.
