Air Force Marathon
The Air Force Marathon is an annual running event held in September at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. The 30th edition is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026. Several race formats are offered on race weekend and through virtual options.
Events include:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Tailwind Trot 1K Kids’ Run
- Relay and virtual race options
Many races start and finish near the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The 5K and the Tailwind Trot take place at Wright State University Nutter Center. Virtual options mirror the in-person distances and include the Tailwind Trot.
Race weekend features a Health & Fitness Expo where all participants must pick up their runner bib, T-shirt, and goodie bag. A Gourmet Pasta Dinner is held the evening before at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force and a Finish Line Festival is scheduled on Saturday midday. The event offers Aim High challenge combinations that pair the 5K with longer races.
Registration policies allow online transfers to other events through August 31 and permit deferrals to the following year through September 11. Recent event statistics list 8,500 total athletes, representation from all 50 states, participants from 18 foreign countries, and approximately 1,500 volunteers.
