Run for Wings 5K
The Run for Wings 5K is an annual event held in Norton Shores, Michigan. Marking its 21st anniversary in 2026, the race is known for providing a flat course for participants. Runners and walkers follow a route that concludes with a special finish line located directly on an airport tarmac.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5 km run
- 5 km walk
The event is designed to be accessible for families, as dogs and strollers are permitted on the course. Registration includes several amenities, such as a pancake breakfast following the race, a door prize for all participants, and the option to receive a premium T-shirt. Awards are presented for top finishers in various categories.
The venue at Hangar 3 features a variety of aviation-themed activities and entertainment. Attendees can view aircraft on display, attend a unique car show, or purchase airplane and helicopter rides. Dedicated areas for children include a Kids Zone with face painting and character meet-and-greet sessions.
All proceeds from the event are donated to Wings of Mercy, a non-profit organization. The funds support their mission of providing free private air transportation for medical patients with limited financial means who require access to distant healthcare facilities. One hundred percent of the registration fees go directly to the West Michigan chapter of this charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
