Run for Type 1
Run for Type 1 takes place at Creekside Park in Dutton, Michigan, near Kentwood, on August 15, 2026. The event offers in-person and virtual options, each covering 3.1 Miles (5K). In-person registration opens November 25, 2025 and closes July 1, 2026; virtual registration remains open through August 15, 2026. Standard registration fees listed are $35 for the 5K and $15 for children under 13; child discounts are applied at checkout.
Shirts are guaranteed for registrants who sign up by July 15, 2026; limited additional shirts from prior years may be available later. The course is an out-and-back on a paved trail that is described as straightforward to follow. Organizers present the route as family friendly and as a choice for runners seeking a fast course.
The event includes age group awards for children and age group awards for adults. Adult age groups begin at 20 and are organized in 10 year increments, with a masters division also included. Awards are handed out as runners finish.
All proceeds from the event are donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Breakthrough Type 1 in honor of a child diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes is described as an autoimmune disorder that requires continuous blood sugar monitoring and insulin administration. Organizers request that participants with Type 1 Diabetes identify themselves so they can be acknowledged. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
