Run for Type 1
Run for Type 1 is a community sports event held at Creekside Park in Dutton, Michigan, located near Kentwood. The event serves as a fundraiser with all proceeds donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), also known as Breakthrough Type 1 (BT1D). These funds support research and provide resources for children living with autoimmune disorders.
The event offers several participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 5K Run - Kids (under 13)
- VIRTUAL 5K
The course consists of an out-and-back route on a paved trail. Participants who register by August 1, 2026, are guaranteed an event shirt. For those registering after this date, shirts from previous years (2023-2025) may be available depending on size availability at checkout.
Awards are presented as participants finish the race. For children, there are multiple age group categories. For participants over 20 years of age, awards are organized in 10-year increments. A masters division is also included in the award structure. Participants who have Type 1 Diabetes may request acknowledgement during the event.
