Event Information
The Run for Their Lives 5k is an annual fundraising event for SPCA Florida. It takes place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Peterson Park in Lakeland, Florida.
Event Format
There are three event categories:
- Run For Their Lives 5k (15 & Up): Open to participants aged 15 and over.
- Run For Their Lives 5k (14 & Under): Open to participants aged 14 and under.
- Run For Their Lives Virtual 5k: A remote participation option.
Course and Details
The course is chip-timed and runs mostly on the 3 Parks Trail. Walkers and leashed dogs are welcome. A continental breakfast is provided at the Eagles Nest. An awards ceremony takes place after the race.
Participant Perks
All registered participants receive a race bib and can choose a short-sleeve T-shirt or tank top (guaranteed for those who register before May 8, 2026). Every finisher receives a race medal.
Awards
Awards are given to the overall male and female winners, as well as to the top three male and female finishers in various age groups from 0-9 up to 80+. An award is also given for the largest team.
Logistics
Early packet pick-up is available on Friday, May 22nd, at Fleet Feet in Lakeside Village. Day-of packet pick-up and late registration are available at Peterson Park. Late registration does not include a shirt or tank.
Fundraising
The event is a fundraiser for SPCA Florida. Participants are encouraged to create individual fundraising pages, with the top fundraiser winning prizes such as theme park tickets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
