Event overview
The Fall Backyard Burn Trail Run at Fountainhead Regional Park takes place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in Fairfax Station, VA (10875 Hampton Road). The event is produced by EX2 Adventures and offers two trail-run distances. The shorter course is a single loop; the longer course adds an out-and-back lollipop on the Bull Run Occoquan Trail. A charity partnership with Homestretch is included during registration. Optional finish medals are available for an extra fee.

Elevation gain for the shorter course is listed as 450 feet; the longer course is listed with substantially higher elevation gain. Registration fees vary by registration period and are listed in tiered amounts for each distance. Race swag for this Fountainhead date is listed as either a tri-blend t-shirt or a water bottle. Optional race medals cost $7.50 pre-order or $10 on-site. Racers are grouped by Male, Female, Non-Binary and by age divisions (12-U, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79).
Race rules include no in-ear headphones, no pets, pacers, or baby strollers on course, visible race numbers worn on the front, outside assistance allowed only within 50 meters of aid stations, and a requirement to stay on designated trails.
