Run for the Word 5K
The Run for the Word 5K is a community running event held in Landis, North Carolina at Trinity Lutheran Church, 108 West Rice Street. The program includes an in person 5K Run/Walk, a 1/2 mile Fun Run for youth, and a Virtual 5K Run/Walk option. 5K and Fun Run participants receive a technical t shirt, and virtual participants also receive a shirt. Shirts may be picked up the day of the event or at an alternative location and time to be determined. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards.
Course directions follow local streets beginning on Zion Street across Highway 153 from the church, then Hoke Street, Kimmons Street, Rice Street, and a left onto Highway 29 Business for about 1.1 miles to a turnaround in the Hogan's Cabinetry parking lot. Runners retrace the route, return toward Landis, then use Ridge Avenue and Zion Street to finish beside the church.
All proceeds support the South Rowan Public Schools Bible Teaching Association. Finish line concessions include ice cream for 5K and Fun Run participants. Awards are presented for top overall male and female, overall masters male and female, and top three male and female finishers in each 5K age division.
