40th Annual Run for the Turtles
The event is the 40th annual Run for the Turtles held in April at Siesta Key Public Beach, 948 Beach Road, Siesta Key, Sarasota, FL 34242. It serves as a fundraiser for the Sea Turtle Conservation & Research Program at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium.
Race options include in-person and virtual participation. Distances offered:
- 1 Mile fun run or walk
- 5K run sanctioned by Manasota Track Club
- Virtual fun run or walk with mailed race t-shirt
The 5K is chip timed and awards are given to top finishers overall and by age group. All 1 Mile participants receive a finisher ribbon and overall male and female top finishers receive prizes. Race registration includes a race t-shirt, access to a food station and a kids activities area. The event takes place on the beach, and multiple water stations will be available; participants are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles.
Virtual participants receive a race t-shirt mailed to the address provided at registration; t-shirt fulfillment may take up to 60 days after the virtual event end. Early packet pickup is available in the days before the event at Mote Science Education Aquarium (Mote SEA), 225 University Town Center Drive, Sarasota, FL, and at Mellow Mushroom, 6727 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL.
