40th Annual Run for the Turtles
The 40th Annual Run for the Turtles is a fundraiser supporting the Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium. The event takes place at Siesta Key Public Beach, specifically at the gazebo south of the pavilion. The course is located on the sand, and participants are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles to use at the available filling stations.
The event offers the following distances and formats:
- 1 Mile Fun Run or Walk
- 5K Manasota Track Club sanctioned run
- Virtual Fun Run or Walk
The 5K race is chip-timed and sanctioned by the Manasota Track Club. Awards for this distance are presented to the top six finishers in each age group, as well as several Masters categories. Participants in the 1 Mile event receive a finisher ribbon, with prizes awarded to the top male and female finishers.
Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt, access to food stations, and a dedicated activities area for children. The event is open to spectators and families. Those participating in the virtual option can complete their run at any location through April 11, 2026, and will receive their t-shirt via mail.
