41st Annual Run for the Turtles
Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium’s 41st Annual Run for the Turtles takes place on Siesta Key Public Beach (948 Beach Road, Sarasota, FL 34242) on April 3, 2027. The event is a fundraiser for Mote’s Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program and is held on the beach surface.
The event program includes in-person and virtual options. Race registration for in-person events includes a race t-shirt, access to a food station, and a kids activities area. Participants and spectators are welcome. Organizers encourage reusable water bottles and provide multiple water stations.
Distances and formats:
- 1 Mile fun run or walk
- 5K sanctioned run with chip timing
- Virtual fun run or walk with mailed race t-shirt
Entry fees noted for the event are $40 for adults (age 14 and up) and $30 for children 13 and under. Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium members receive a 10% registration discount. Packets are available on race morning and early packet pickup details will be announced.
Awards are given to overall top finishers and to age-group places, including Masters and Grand Masters categories as listed by the organizers. The 5K is sanctioned by the Manasota Track Club. The event supports long term sea turtle monitoring along regional coastlines and contributes data used by local, state, and federal entities.
