Event Overview
The Run for the Son 5K and Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Ellijay, Georgia. This marks the 20th annual edition of the event.

- Tot Trot (for children aged 1-5)
Location and Course
The event takes place at 75 McCutchen St in Ellijay. The start and finish point is the Scout Hut near Ellijay Elementary School. The 5K course is described as a double loop around the mountain town.
Registration and Pricing
Registration is available for all events. The 5K, Virtual 5K, and Fun Run each have a standard price of $30. The Tot Trot is free. A $2 discount per person is offered for group registrations of three or more people. Race day registration is available. A T-shirt is guaranteed for registrations completed by April 24, 2026.
Awards
Awards are presented in multiple categories. Individual awards are given to Overall Male and Female, Overall Masters Male and Female, and three deep in five-year age groups starting from 10 and under up to 75 and over. Two team trophies are also awarded: the "Cup of Legends" for the largest registered team and the "Cup of Champions" for the team with the most time submissions. Winners of these team awards keep the trophies for a year.
Logistics
Free parking is available at Ellijay Elementary School, across from the Scout Hut. Refreshments will be provided. The event will proceed in case of rain, with a possible delay for severe weather. No refunds are offered. Timing is handled by BT Race Timing using a manual finish card system (not chip timing). Virtual 5K participants have until Friday, May 1st at noon to submit a time and are eligible for a shirt but not for awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
