Run for the Rose 5K - Lancaster
The Run for the Rose is a community 5K and untimed fun run held on May 16, 2026 at the Lindsay Pettus Greenway - Comporium Nature Pavilion in Lancaster, SC. Proceeds benefit the United Way of Lancaster County, which supports programs in Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency. The organization funds programs in 15 local nonprofits, leads nine initiatives, and serves as the lead agency for the Lancaster Area Coalition for the Homeless.
The course follows boardwalk and concrete pathways along Gills Creek, winds around a local school, then continues on the Greenway to a loop at the Woodland Drive entrance before returning to the start and finish area. T-shirt requests are guaranteed for registrations completed by April 30 for adult sizes. The event includes awards for 1st and 2nd overall male and female and age group winners in the following brackets: 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus.
Packet pickup is scheduled Friday at Five Grands Lancaster Square Shopping Center, 947 A North Main Street, and on race day at the Lancaster County Chamber parking lot, 453 Colonial Ave, at the United Way tent. 90s attire is encouraged and prizes are planned for best dressed. The race coincides with the Red Rose Festival featuring vendors, food, live music, and community activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
