3rd Annual Equal Footing 5k Run/Walk
This event is a community 5k Run and Walk hosted by Let's Include Landon at Marvin Efird Park, 8909 New Town Rd, Waxhaw NC. The course goes through wooded and shaded trails and runs along the lake in a park setting. The event includes a themed decades run where participants may dress in decade outfits, team registration with discounted pricing, and a range of on-site activities such as a hydration station with flavored options, music, complimentary face painting, balloon art, ice cream, a playground, local partners, and a silent auction.
Funds raised support inclusive sports programs for children with and without disabilities. Past programs have included basketball, soccer, swimming, and tennis. The organizer also promotes disability inclusion through community outreach such as appearances at Charlotte Knights Community Corner, Charlottetowne Hops, Girl Scout programs, after school programs, parades, run clubs, therapy offices, concerts, and disability inclusion proclamations at town council meetings.
