Event Overview
The seventh annual Run for the Rare is a community sports event held in Salem, Oregon. This event takes place at Riverfront City Park and serves to support International Batten Disease Awareness Day. The initiative highlights the global impact of rare diseases, noting that approximately 350 million people worldwide live with one of over 7,000 known rare conditions.
The event offers several distances for participants to choose from:
- 10k race
- 5k race
- 1 mile Fun Run
The courses are designed for both runners and walkers. All race activities begin and end at the North Meadow, specifically near the Pavilion area within Riverfront City Park. The registration fee includes a food coupon that participants can use for snacks and ice cream.
Participants can collect their race packets ahead of time at Gallagher's Fitness on Commercial Street NE during a scheduled window the day before the event. On the day of the run, packet pickup is also available at the park starting one hour before the official start.
Location and Infrastructure
