RUN/WALK FOR THE RARE, 8th Annual
Haley's Heroes Foundation presents a run and walk event in Salem on June 13, 2027 at Riverfront City Park, North Meadow. The event supports International Batten Disease Awareness Day and raises awareness about rare diseases. The event materials note that 1 in 10 people have a rare disease, half of those are children, there are more than 7,000 known rare diseases, about 350 million people globally are diagnosed with a rare disease, and 95 percent of rare diseases lack an FDA approved treatment.

- 5K
- 1 mile fun run
Registration fees are listed by category, with adult and child tiers. Registration includes a food coupon, an ice cream coupon, access to a photo booth, and an event t shirt. A virtual participation option is available; the virtual fee includes an official event t shirt that will be shipped to the participant.
Packet pick up is available the day before at Gallagher's Fitness and also on the day of the event at Riverfront City Park. The course starts and finishes outside the pavilion in the North Meadow.
