RUN/WALK FOR THE RARE - Salem, OR (June 14, 2026)
Haley's Heroes Foundation organizes the 7th Annual RUN FOR THE RARE, a community run/walk held in Salem, Oregon on June 14, 2026. The event supports International Batten Disease Awareness Day and highlights statistics about rare diseases: about 1 in 10 people have a rare disease, roughly 50% of those affected are children, there are more than 7,000 known rare diseases, an estimated 350 million people worldwide live with a rare disease, and 95% of rare diseases do not have an FDA-approved treatment.
The event offers multiple distance options:
- 10k run/walk
- 5k run/walk
- 1 mile fun run
- 10k and 5k race entries for children under 12
- 1 mile fun run for children under 12
The course starts and finishes outside the Pavilion in the North Meadow at 200 Water St NE, Salem, OR 97301. Registration fees listed in the event information are $45 for adults and $35 for children; the fee includes a T-shirt. Registration also includes coupons for wings and fries, a coupon for ice cream, and access to a Photo Booth.
Early packet pick up is scheduled for June 13 at Gallagher's Fitness, 135 Commercial St NE, Salem. Packet pick up is also available at the event site on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
