Run for the Planet – Santa Monica
Run for the Planet takes place on April 18, 2027, at Tongva Park in Santa Monica and is presented as an Earth Day event focused on environmental stewardship and movement.
The event offers these distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half marathon (13.1 miles)
Course format and routing are out and back. The 5K route is used for the 5K (one lap) and the 10K (two laps). The Half Marathon combines two laps of a 5‑mile route with one lap of the 5K route. The beach path is an open course where participants will encounter other users; runners are asked to stay on the right side of the path while cyclists use the left. Turns are marked with chalk, a runner turn sign, and a flag.
On-course support includes a fully stocked water station and a finish aid station with water, electrolytes, gels, and fruit snacks. Each station has a first aid kit and crew members with CPR training.
Logistics note the start location at Tongva Park, 1615 Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90401. Parking is limited on Ocean Avenue; several public lots are within short walking distance, the closest being the Civic Center Parking Lot. An E Line station is nearby. Participants should wear their race bib on the front of their shirt. A gear check is available at the registration tent; participants must provide their own bag. All finishers receive a race medal and overall first place male and female receive first place medals for each distance. Registration opens September 10, 2026 and closes April 16, 2027. Early entry fees listed are $24.50 for the 5K, $28.50 for the 10K, and $38.50 for the Half Marathon. Race results and event photos are emailed the day after the race and posted earlier on Instagram; race photos are free. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
