Run for the Glasses
Run for the Glasses is a multi-distance running event held in Drums, Pennsylvania. The races take place at the Honey Hole Winery and serve as the inaugural event in the Valley Running Club Festival of Races. All proceeds from the event support Community Services for Sight in the Hazleton Area.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 10K
- 3.1 Miles (5K Run/Walk)
- 3.1 Miles Dog Jog
- 1 Mile Youth Run (Virtual option)
The courses are designed as out and back routes along Honey Hole Road, with both the start and finish lines located at the winery. For participants who cannot attend in person, virtual options are available for all distances. Virtual runners complete their chosen distance on their own course and submit their times electronically for scoring in a dedicated division.
Timing is conducted using both gun and chip methods. Gun time determines overall awards, while chip time is utilized for age group awards. Medals are provided to the first-place male and female overall winners, as well as to winners in ten-year age categories for the 13.1 Miles, 10K, and 5K races. The Dog Jog division features overall awards for the top three finishers, and participating dogs receive a treat.
Registered participants receive shirts, with sizes guaranteed for those who sign up by May 19. Packet pickup is available at the winery on the Thursday and Friday preceding the event, or on the morning of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
