Event details
The Run for the Buds 5K takes place on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Dewey, Delaware. The event is held at The Starboard, located at 2009 Coastal Highway, Dewey, DE 19971. This is the 19th annual Run for the Buds and it is scheduled for the weekend of World Down Syndrome Day. Proceeds benefit the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware, a nonprofit that supports families, promotes community involvement, and encourages lifetime opportunities for people with Down syndrome. Packet pickup is at The Starboard. A course map is listed as coming soon and is noted as directional only.
Amenities and awards
Race participants receive complimentary event merchandise and a pair of "Rock Your Socks" mismatched socks. Water and race fuel will be provided, and post-race food and drinks are available at The Starboard. Additional Run for the Buds apparel is available for purchase through an online vendor.
Awards are given for Overall Male and Female, Overall Masters Male and Female, and the top three in each age group for Male and Female. Age groups are: 9 and under, 10-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Fusion Running Club members receive a 20% registration discount.
