19th Annual Run for the Buds 5K in Dewey
The Run for the Buds 5K is an annual running event held in Dewey, Delaware. The race route takes place by the shore, with the primary venue and gathering point located at The Starboard on Coastal Highway. This event coincides with the weekend of World Down Syndrome Day to celebrate individuals in the community with Down syndrome and to raise awareness for related support programs.

Participants receive several amenities as part of their registration, including specialized merchandise and a pair of "Rock Your Socks" mismatched socks. The organizers provide water and race fuel during the event. Following the run, a post-race gathering with food and drinks is held at The Starboard.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top masters male and female participants. Additionally, the top three finishers in various age categories receive recognition. These categories range from 9 and under to 70 and over.
The proceeds from the event benefit the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware, a nonprofit organization. This association focuses on supporting families, promoting community involvement, and providing resources for individuals with Down syndrome throughout their lives.
