Run for Recovery 5K : overview
The Run for Recovery 5K was scheduled for November 9, 2025, at Sandy Creek Park, 400 Bob Holman Road, Athens, GA 30607. The event included multiple participation options: a 5K walk/run, a kids Fun Run, a Virtual 5K, and a Phantom Participant option. The race benefits two local recovery organizations: Acceptance Recovery and Inclusive Recovery Athens, which provide peer-led recovery housing, peer support, outreach, and training focused on inclusive recovery spaces.

Course, registration, awards, and status
Both the 5K and the Fun Run run entirely on paved surfaces inside Sandy Creek Park. The Fun Run is a single loop around the park circle; all Fun Run participants receive a finishers ribbon. T-shirts were guaranteed for registrations received by October 31, 2025; Fun Run shirts cost $10. Published registration fees included $25 race fee plus sign-up fee for the 5K and Virtual 5K, with an increase in the 5K fee after October 31, 2025. Virtual runners must be registered as virtual participants to submit a time and are not eligible for race day awards or t-shirts.
Awards were planned for overall and masters categories by gender and for non-binary overall placements. The event was later cancelled; refunds will be issued to all registered runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
