Run for Our Heroes at Menriv Park
Run for Our Heroes is a sun up to sundown memorial event held at Menriv Park in Goose Creek, South Carolina. The event honors more than 445 fallen service members and first responders from South Carolina and is not a traditional race.
Teams of runners and walkers depart from a Memorial Area throughout the day. Each participant carries the name or names of a fallen hero while walking or running a distance they choose, including distances up to 5K. There is no requirement to complete the full distance. When teams return to the Memorial Area, participants read aloud the names they carried so those names are heard and remembered by families, fellow participants, volunteers, and community members.
The event is open to families, veterans, first responders, runners, walkers, volunteers, and community members of all ages and ability levels. There is no charge to take part, and free parking is available. Teams continue to depart and return throughout the day, creating an ongoing tribute in which each mile and each name is acknowledged.
