Run for Malawi 2026
Run for Malawi 2026 takes place on Saturday April 11, 2026 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at Southern Village Green (300 Market Street, 27516). The event offers two options:

- Virtual 5K run
The event supports Malawi Children’s Initiative (MCI), an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit established in 2017. Funds raised are designated to train Malawian healthcare professionals and to purchase medical equipment for the Pediatrics Department at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe. Organizers note that MCI has provided more than $1 million in funding, training, staffing, and equipment since its founding. Noted projects include funding an elementary school building, providing scholarships for healthcare education, building and staffing a pediatric clinical lab and residency program at Kamuzu Central Hospital, operating a Nutritional Rehab Unit, and beginning planning for a new pediatric hospital unit and associated local pediatrician training.
Volunteer roles mentioned include course marshals, cheering stations, and family-friendly activities such as chalk drawings along the course. Entry fees listed for the in-person and virtual 5K are $40 and $30 for ages 0 to 16, with prices increasing after March 28, 2026.
