Event Overview
The Run for Health is an annual 5K run and walk held in Houston, Texas. The 2026 edition marks the 11th year of this community event. The 5 km course starts and finishes at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Upper Bay Road.
The race route is USATF certified (TX 15035 ETM) and features electronic timing provided by Campbell Timing Systems. Timing chips are integrated into the race bibs, which participants must wear on the front of their shirts.
Participation and Rules
The event is open to runners and walkers who have completed the registration process. There are specific restrictions for the safety of all participants:
- Animals are not permitted on the course.
- The use of bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, and double-wide strollers is prohibited.
- Adults accompanying children on the course must also be registered.
Prizes and Recognition
Awards are presented across various categories following the completion of the race. The event includes:
- A $300 cash prize for the overall male and female winners.
- Trophies for the top three finishers in nine age divisions, ranging from under 10 to 70+.
- Commemorative medals for all participants who cross the finish line.
The event grounds host multiple vendors providing activities and giveaways. Proceeds from the race support Anchor Point, an organization providing community resources for families, including pregnancy support and services for foster and adopted children.
