Trail Running in Los Gatos
The Run for Amma takes place in the Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve in Los Gatos, California. This annual charity event celebrates its 16th anniversary in 2027. The race serves as a fundraiser to support cancer research, with total registration proceeds donated to the UCSF Julia Carnevale Lab. The event is supported by local running organizations, including the Stevens Creek Striders and Quicksilver running clubs.
Participants can choose from three distinct trail distances:
- 50K trail race with 5,052 feet of elevation gain and an 8.5-hour time limit.
- 30K trail race featuring 3,382 feet of elevation gain and an 8.5-hour time limit.
- 10K route with 1,026 feet of elevation gain, open to both walkers and runners.
The event headquarters and finish line are located at the northern lot of the preserve, which includes bathroom facilities. Participants use the equestrian lot for parking, located to the left of the preserve entrance gate. For the longer distances, bib pickup is conducted on the morning of the event at the race site. The course routes utilize the trail systems within the Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve, offering varying degrees of vertical gain depending on the selected distance.
