Run Duck Run 10K Duathlon
The Run Duck Run 10K Duathlon is a run-paddle-run event held on July 11, 2026 at Henry Horton State Park, Shelter 4. The course combines running and paddling and covers a total distance of 10K.
The route begins with a roughly 1.5-mile run on a rubberized greenway, followed by a 2-mile paddle on the Duck River, and finishes with about 2.5 miles of running that combines trail and road surfaces. Participants will encounter a mix of grass, rubberized greenway, pavement, and trail terrain. Aid stations are placed at each river access before and after the paddle segment.
Participants must be proficient at kayaking on Class 1 water. Life jackets are required. One entry option provides park kayaks (Jackson Kayaks, 10 feet long) and lifejackets; bringing a personal lifejacket is suggested. There are also BYOK entries for those who bring their own kayak. Fees vary by entry option.
All participants receive event swag including a t-shirt, finisher medal, post-race drink, and snack. The course has a 3-hour time limit and rangers will conduct a sweep to ensure participant safety.
The event occurs during the Duck River Outdoor Expo (July 10–12, 2026), an expo that benefits Henry Horton State Park and the conservation of the Duck River and features exhibits, presentations, and activities about local wildlife and conservation.
