Event overview
Run Because You Can is a community 5K and youth dash organized by the non-profit Runnin' for Rhett. The event in William Land Park, Sacramento, CA, marks the completion of six weeks of the after-school Youth Fitness Program and involves around 3,000 youth athletes from the Sacramento area. Logistics, course and policies
The course starts near Sutterville and Freeport and follows tree-lined park streets for miles 1 and 2, returning to the finish near Sutterville and Freeport. There is one fluid aid station with restrooms about halfway through the 5K, and additional restrooms at the start/finish area. Packets include a bib, timing chip, and shirt; youth fitness students affiliated with a school will receive packets through their coach. Parking is recommended at Sacramento City College for a small fee. Pets are not allowed except service dogs; baby joggers/strollers are permitted but should start at the back. The 5K uses disposable timing chips on bibs. The event is rain or shine and does not offer refunds; participants may transfer to the virtual option before the race starts.
